SOUMANAR Functional Medicine Institute
Seven pillars.
A personalised medical pathway.
The seven SOUMANAR programmes are complementary clinical pillars that bring together metabolic and digestive health, neuro-metabolic function and recovery. PRIME provides assessment and risk stratification, SEAL addresses the intestinal barrier and low-grade inflammation, and AXIS focuses on the microbiome and gut–liver–pancreas axis.
SYNC examines relationships within the gut–brain–muscle axis; GLIDE focuses on personalised metabolic intervention. NECO considers stress, executive functions and autonomic regulation, while RESTORE addresses goals for recovery, resilience and functional longevity. Each pillar contributes a complementary perspective to understanding individual needs.
Programmes can be followed individually or combined, according to medical history, goals and assessment findings. BLUEPRINT is the personalised clinical matrix connecting assessment, intervention and monitoring.

01 / Metabolic assessment and risk stratification
PRIME
From scattered symptoms to a clear medical direction.
PRIME brings medical history, symptoms, laboratory findings and functional assessments into an integrated clinical map. The aim is to understand how the findings connect and establish medical priorities.
Fatigue, difficulty managing weight, unrefreshing sleep or symptoms not sufficiently explained by laboratory findings may be reasons for an integrated assessment. Investigations are interpreted alongside your history, treatments and goals.
What does PRIME assess?
Body composition
Visceral fat, muscle mass and water distribution, considered alongside functional capacity.
Resting metabolism
Energy expenditure and substrate utilisation under the conditions of the assessment.
Tissue glycation
The profile is considered alongside metabolic findings, risk factors and clinical context.
Autonomic regulation and HRV
Heart rate variability findings integrated with sleep, stress and recovery.
Muscle function
Grip strength and the relationship between muscle mass and assessed function.
Integrated biological profile
Laboratory findings and investigations interpreted alongside age, symptoms and treatments.
Three levels. One medical approach.
Basic provides the core assessment. Plus and Advanced add components when justified by the clinical question. The appropriate level depends on the presenting problem and complexity of the case.
PRIME Basic
- Integrative consultation and interpretation of laboratory findings
- Body composition and functional reserve profile
- Resting metabolic and tissue glycation profiles
- HRV assessment and muscle strength testing
- Integrative report and guidance on the medical pathway
PRIME Plus
Includes PRIME Basic and an extended multisystem functional map to organise complex symptoms and clarify priorities.
A complementary, non-diagnostic component. Hypotheses require clinical verification; they are not automatically treated as diagnoses.
PRIME Advanced
Includes PRIME Plus and a neurofunctional electrophysiological profile using quantitative EEG (qEEG), integrated with clinical findings, sleep, HRV and cognitive symptoms.
qEEG does not replace MRI, diagnostic neurological EEG or specialist assessment.
Laboratory tests, imaging, microbiome or omics testing, and consultations with other specialties are arranged separately when indicated and relevant to medical decisions.
What do you receive?
- An integrative medical report explaining how the findings connect
- Identification of resources and vulnerabilities requiring attention
- Clarification of findings requiring further investigations or consultations
- Intervention priorities and reference points for reassessment
How does the pathway continue?
Depending on the findings, the pathway may include monitoring, individual recommendations, further investigations, specialist referral or the integration of one or more SOUMANAR programmes.

SEAL
Intestinal barrier and low-grade inflammation
SEAL addresses the relationship between digestive health, the intestinal barrier and low-grade inflammation. Clinical assessment guides personalised interventions and response monitoring, within the limits of the available investigations.
Who it may be relevant for
For people with digestive disturbances and clinical questions about the intestinal barrier or low-grade inflammation.
Our assessment approach
We consider digestive symptoms and available findings alongside the metabolic and inflammatory context. Medical assessment determines what warrants investigation and which individualised interventions are appropriate.
What we work towards
Supporting intestinal barrier integrity, regulation of the inflammatory response and metabolic stability, while monitoring the clinical response.
03 / SOUMANAR
AXIS
The microbiome and gut–liver–pancreas axis
AXIS integrates microbiome assessment with liver function, glucose regulation and cardiometabolic risk. Findings are considered in the context of the gut–liver–pancreas axis and the clinical questions relevant to each person.
Who it may be relevant for
For people whose digestive health and microbiome need to be considered alongside liver function, glucose regulation and cardiometabolic risk.
Our assessment approach
We bring digestive, metabolic and inflammatory information together to understand relevant relationships within the gut–liver–pancreas axis. Microbiome findings are interpreted in clinical context, without automatically attributing every disturbance to a single cause.
What we work towards
Clarifying intervention priorities for digestive and metabolic health, and monitoring relevant measures of liver function and glucose regulation.
04 / SOUMANAR
SYNC
The gut–brain–muscle axis and neuro-metabolic function
SYNC considers the connections between the microbiome, inflammation, energy metabolism, muscle function and cognitive symptoms. This information is assessed alongside medical history and functional capacity to guide evaluation and an individual plan.
Who it may be relevant for
When digestive health, energy, mental clarity and muscle function raise questions that need to be understood together.
Our assessment approach
We examine possible connections between the microbiome, inflammation and energy metabolism in relation to neuromuscular function and adaptation to stress. Interpretation starts with the individual’s context and the available findings.
What we work towards
Supporting neuro-metabolic function and adaptive capacity, with individual goals concerning energy, mental clarity and muscle function.
05 / Personalised metabolic intervention
GLIDE
Weight, in the context of metabolic health.
GLIDE addresses weight, appetite, glucose regulation and body composition through a personalised medical plan. Nutrition, monitoring and measures to protect muscle mass are integrated with metabolic therapy, including GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP only when medically indicated.
GLIDE begins after a complete PRIME assessment, with medical referral to the programme when indicated.
The preceding PRIME assessment is not included in GLIDE. Explore the PRIME assessment ↗
When might GLIDE be relevant?
These contexts may warrant assessment for GLIDE. The programme and interventions are selected individually, following medical assessment.
- Overweight or obesity
- Increased appetite or food noise — persistent thoughts about food
- Insulin resistance, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes
- Insufficient response to previous interventions or weight regain
- Cardiometabolic risk
- Current GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP treatment requiring medical supervision
What goals do we work towards?
- Reducing visceral fat
- Protecting muscle mass and strength
- Managing appetite and satiety
- Improving glucose regulation and metabolic parameters
- Intervention tolerability and safety
- Reducing the risk of weight regain
Clinical assessment
Medical history, goals and metabolic risk guide the selection of relevant interventions and investigations.
Nutrition and muscle mass
The plan integrates nutrition, body composition and muscle function, with attention to the risk of muscle loss.
Individualised intervention
GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP therapies are considered when medically indicated, within a physician-supervised plan.
Monitoring and safety
Clinical progress, tolerability, nutrition and functional findings inform reassessment of the plan and its priorities.
How do we monitor progress?
The programme includes six medical reviews and functional assessments.
At every review
- Body composition
- Tissue glycation interpreted in a vascular context
- Muscle strength
- Clinical response: appetite, satiety and food noise
- Digestion, energy, sleep, physical activity and intervention tolerability
Resting metabolism
Resting metabolism is reassessed three times, at two-month intervals.
Integrative reports
- Initial report
- Progress report at three months
- Final or progress report at six months

NECO
Neurofunctional regulation, stress and executive functions
NECO is a clinical and research programme focused on executive functions, decision-making, emotion, stress, adaptation and autonomic responses. Findings are interpreted in light of the methods and their limitations, distinguishing clinical components from exploratory work.
Who it may be relevant for
When stress, adaptation, emotions or difficulties with decision-making warrant discussing executive functions and autonomic responses in a medical context.
Our assessment approach
The pathway prioritises neurofunctional stability and the sequence of interventions. Clinical components are distinguished from research, and exploratory findings are interpreted within their limitations.
What we work towards
Supporting adaptive capacity and executive functions, with attention to the relationships between stress, emotion, decision-making and autonomic regulation.
07 / SOUMANAR
RESTORE
Recovery, resilience and functional longevity
RESTORE integrates sleep, biological rhythms, stress management, metabolic flexibility and recovery. Goals focus on functional health and long-term adaptive capacity, in the context of each person’s health.
Who it may be relevant for
For people who want to address sleep, stress management and recovery within a medical plan focused on long-term functional health.
Our assessment approach
We consider biological rhythms, autonomic nervous system responses and metabolic flexibility when assessing recovery capacity. Priorities are adapted to each person’s health and circumstances.
What we work towards
Supporting recovery, resilience and the capacity to function and adapt over time, through individual goals for sleep, stress and metabolic health.

Practical questions about the programmes
Where should I start if I do not know which programme to choose?
You can request an initial assessment or a medical consultation. PRIME brings together your history, symptoms, laboratory findings and functional assessments to clarify priorities and guide the pathway. The programme is selected according to the clinical questions, your goals and assessment findings.
How do I choose between PRIME Basic, Plus and Advanced?
Basic provides the core assessment; Plus and Advanced add components only when justified by the clinical question. The level is chosen according to the presenting problem and case complexity. The complementary component in Plus is non-diagnostic; qEEG in Advanced does not replace MRI, diagnostic neurological EEG or specialist assessment.
Do I need to complete all seven programmes?
No. Programmes can be followed individually or combined, depending on your medical history, goals and findings. BLUEPRINT is the clinical matrix connecting assessment, intervention and monitoring; it is not an eighth programme.
Do I need PRIME before GLIDE? Is it included?
Yes. GLIDE begins after a complete PRIME assessment, when the findings support medical referral to this programme. The preceding PRIME assessment is arranged separately and is not included in GLIDE.
Does GLIDE always require GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP treatment?
No. GLIDE may include an individual nutrition strategy, metabolic monitoring and measures to protect muscle mass. GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP therapies are considered only when medically indicated; prescribing and adjusting treatment depend on the physician’s assessment.
Are laboratory and microbiome tests included?
PRIME includes interpretation of laboratory findings as part of the assessment. Laboratory tests, imaging, microbiome or omics testing, and consultations with other specialties are arranged separately when indicated and relevant to medical decisions.
How do I book an appointment?
